The Bears defense sounded a bit brash but their description of the Indianapolis RPO game was spot on and Anthony Richardson's big arm can make it work.

The start of the 2024 season for Anthony Richardson has been a mixed bag so far. Week 1 saw the explosiveness Richardson brings to the Indianapolis Colts offense, with three pass plays of over 50 yards in a close loss to the Houston Texans.

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson took the shotgun snap in Week 1, dropped back and slipped. He steadied his back leg, took a shuffle step to his left, outside the left hash, and saw two Texans pass rushers push through blockers at his feet. A third closed on his left, so Richardson heaved a pass off the wrong foot.

Caleb Williams and Anthony Richardson find themselves in similar predicaments. Both left college early carrying the label of strong-armed quarterbacks, capable of making big plays with their feet. Both were drafted by teams seeking long-term stability at a position that had become a revolving door.

Anthony Richardson approached the lectern wearing his frustration on his face. But even if the expression of the Indianapolis Colts quarterback had not provided an indicator of his mood, his words moments later certainly did.
