Mississippi teen Carly Gregg was severely depressed and possibly hearing voices when she allegedly gunned down her own mother, psychiatrists testified at her trial Thursday — but one argued she committed a “diabolical” act that keeps her from meeting the requirements of an insanity defense.

Day 1 of the Carly Madison Gregg murder trial began with a somber atmosphere as the prosecution presented evidence of a 911 call and bodycam footage.

The state called their final witnesses to the stand in the trial of the Rankin County teen accused of killing her mother. On Thursday, the state brought forth expert witnesses in rebuttal. They said there were contradictions in Carly Gregg’s story after her arrest in March 2024.
