"Joker: Folie á Deux" flopped at the box office on opening weekend as the sequel took an approach that seemingly appealed to no one.

Todd Phillips' sequel, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, doesn't respect the musical genre — and it paid the price with critics and audiences alike.

Nevertheless, Folie à Deux ’s $121 million global haul has pushed Phoenix’s career box office past the $2.1 billion mark. Exactly half of that amount has come from the first Joker film, which became a box office sensation in 2019 with a lifetime haul of over $1 billion.
