The Supreme Court on Monday refused to require doctors in Texas to perform certain emergency abortions when the procedure would conflict with the state’s strict abortion ban.

The Supreme Court on Monday left in place a court order blocking the Biden administration from enforcing in Texas its policy of requiring hospitals to provide emergency abortion care or risk losing federal funding.

The ruling lets stand a Fifth Circuit ruling stating that hospitals never have to terminate pregnancies, including when a patient faces risk of death.
