Nine months after the death of Owasso student Nex Benedict, the U.S. Department of Education has reached a resolution in their Owasso Public Schools investigation.

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced Owasso Public Schools entered an agreement to remedy Title IX violations involving possible sexual harassment in its schools.

The agreement was prompted by a complaint initially filed by the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, in response to the Feb. 8 death of Owasso sophomore Nex Benedict.
