Some 237,703 Comcast subscribers had their personal information hacked in a breach the company said was discovered this summer by a former contractor.

CF Medical, a medical debt-purchasing company that goes by the trade name Capio, has confirmed it was among the organizations that saw customer health information stolen as a result of the FBCS breach. In September, CF Medical said more than 620,000 individuals had personal and health information stolen.

Comcast has confirmed that the personal data of over 230,000 customers was stolen during a ransomware attack on a third-party debt collection agency, Financial Business and Consumer Solutions (FBCS). The breach happened in February 2024, but FBCS initially told Comcast that no customer data was compromised.

Comcast said personal information on 237,703 customers -- including Social Security numbers -- was accessed by an 'unauthorized third party.'

The Financial Business and Consumer Solutions (FBCS) breach, which exposed data on 3+ million Americans, included personal details on almost 300,000 Comcast users.

According to a notice sent to the Office of the Main Attorney General, more than 200,000 Comcast customers have been affected by a data breach at Financial Business and Consumer Solutions (FBCS). FBCS is a debt collection agency contacted by various companies to collect on unpaid debts.

The breach occurred in February, but Comcast was only informed of it in July. The compromised data dates back to around 2021. This incident follows a previous breach that affected 35 million Xfinity customers,
