The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept its key interest rate unchanged on Wednesday, as widely expected, but tweaked its policy stance to "neutral", opening the door for rate cuts amid early signs of a growth slowdown in the economy.

"Thus, no rate action, in conjunction with a stance change to neutral with stress on being 'actively disinflationary' is indeed their best bet to prep ground for start of a shallow easing cycle, possibly but not necessarily from December," Madhavi added.

This was the first meeting of the reconstituted MPC. The three newly appointed external members are Ram Singh, Saugata Bhattacharya and Nagesh Kumar.
