The district is the only one in L.A. County currently represented by a Republican. Whitesides is a former NASA chief of staff. The Associated Press declared Whitesides the winner at 7:44 p.m. EST.

Led by Paul Zilinskas' 27 points, the IUPUI Jaguars defeated the Goshen Maple Leafs 97-55 on Tuesday night. The Jaguars are now 1-1 on the season.
